Colour catastrophe?

I ordered some yarn last Friday and yesterday it arrived - yay!

Unfortunately, while two of the skeins were precisely the colour shown on the website, the remaining four were BROWN! Definitely a case of crafy lighting on the part of the photographer as it looked more bronze/gold. Instead, it is a light wood/cork colour.

I am keen to get started on the project so I've decided to use it anyway (it will look nice in the shawl design I'm planning to do) and embellish it with colourful beads.

I had planned to spend the entire evening working on my cardigan sleeves, but ended up going shopping with a friend instead. So I only managed two or three rows before bed. Oh well, I have the whole weekend to finish them!

Tune in tomorrow for my first attempt at blocking...

Inaugural Post

Hola!

Inspired by a lady I met last night who was regretting the seeming death of the knitting blog, I have decided to begin one of my own. I will, of course, write about all my other passions and activities, like books, the theatre, music etc, but knitting is the main thrust :)

So, here is a little about me:

I am a writer and general arts enthusiast and have always enjoyed making things - especially gifts for friends and family.

My journey as a knitter began on the 20th December 2009, when I walked into Liberty's of London and bought myself two balls of yarn, a set of needles and a Learn to Knit book with the intention of making a tea cosy.

A little over five months laterm my projects are in double figures and I am totally hooked. It's such an addictive hobby and I've also discovered that knitting is a fabulous way to meet new and interesting people. I am a people enthusiast too!

Well, that's enough for post #1, I think....
